Islands of the Caribbean including both windward and leeward islands

The Mahi Mahi has landed

Easy/Lazy day, got up early then went ashore to clear Shawn and Sharon off the boat, before we left Bequia. Walked around bought some supplies for more frozen umbrella drinks on the boat, and a little food too.

Chatted with the locals as we explored their little city, and got some ‘respect’ from the locals when you buy some fresh home grown veggies from the local vendors, mangos, limes and bananas for the mixed drinks.

About noon, we bailed on going to Mustique and decided to sail across to Blue Lagoon, St Vincent. As usual the wind changed directions just enough to be coming directly from Blue Lagoon where we wanted to go so if you are following the Spot Track you will see a few tacks, and one pretty good side Fish.

Interesting anchorage, tricky entrance and full of mooring balls, but we are here and its close to the airport for tomorrows flight out.

Back to the Ledo Deck, and soak in a few rays between the possible afternoon showers.

Sunday Lucky Sunday

Okay, the internet has it’s places.

There was a couple of boat chores to be done today, all easy and not highly necessary. Installed the aft shower, something that I have been wanting to do since turkey and we ran out of water because it was leaking, so it was the day to take a saw and cut into a perfectly good boat to make a larger hole???

Huh.. cut a hole???? Okay its in an non water tight location. 1.5 hours later and the new aft shower hole was functional, but it was also time to “surprise” shawn and sharon at the airport.

The Taxi’s say its about an hour, the local’s say if you get lost i could take 3hrs, my Garmin/Google maps say they island is less than 30 miles long, who are the locals kidding.

So we drive on the worng side, its one lane, there is barely any passing, non locals are scared to drive (read “me”) … so its much longer than expected.

The road is washed out, its up and down the mountains. Shoulders need a massage after todays trip up and over to the far part of St Lucia.

The joys of the internet, Shawn checked the at blog 34,000 feet from the ground, while aboard the airplane and figured out that we were going go pick him up in the rental car. Worked out good, except that Christine and I were withing about 4 mins of the bailing on us and catching a Taxi to the marina. All ends well, we found them, they were still there, we didn’t run out of gas getting to the south airport, etc….

It has been an awesome day, Shawn/Sharon Skyped the family, we had a nice dinner… looking forward to tomorrows movement!

St Lucia with a hangover crew

Crew was slow to rise this morning as would be expected when staying up past cruisers midnight, which is 9pm. Since I was up first a quick trip to the marina store for some much needed water for the crew. Even with the late rousing, we still had an projected filled fun day.

Picked up the propane, the laundry, picked up and repacked the fixed spinnakers, checked the lines, raised the jib, put the engine on the dingy, got the dingy started, tried to get bbq working – no dice, so christine bought be a new one for my bday. Re-organized the boat manuals, washed a fender that was marring the fresh polish and wax. and an expensive trip to the supermarket, and jello shots made.

We took a dingy ride after getting it started, doing some exploring we found a dingy dock to the grocery store and a couple o waterfront restaraunts we didn’t know existed. Found a pizza place near the water and thats where we had dinner, some pretty decent deep dish pizza.

Even squeeked in a couple games of dominos after dinner on the boat, we are pretty much all ready. Only one more project for Sunday is to replace the aft deck shower with a new unit thats been on board since the canaries as the old one leaks.

Since we still have the rental car, Christine and Myself are going to pick up Shawn and Sharron at the airport with cold beverages in hand. So more fun driving on the wrong side of the road.
