We’ve dropped anchor beside one of New Caledonia’s most recognizable landmarks, and naturally, being sailors, we were immediately drawn to the giant lighthouse standing proudly in the middle of this tiny tropical island.

After we ensured our boat was safe on the mooring, we hopped in Sweetie and headed to shore.

We purchased (2) tickets at the little boutique which cost 300xpf per person ($3USD).

Matt and I encounter the local security guards for the Amedee Lighthouse.  I am not a fan of these poisonous, curious, but non-aggressive snakes. 

Dozens of hand carved lions heads are located at the very top of the lighthouse.

After you climb the 247 stairs to the top of the lighthouse you are rewarded with stunning 360 degree views!
